One of the most popular interviews we have had on our blog is for Jaz Ampar-Farr. She is the visionary behind a wild new photography community in the UK and her vision is becoming a phenomenal success. November 18-20, 2011, the first annual ShutterRock festival for photographers will be taking place and we are hoping to see some of you there. Spread the love and spread the word about ShutterRock. And please listen up for this very special note from Jaz herself!
Hey Guys, Jaz here. Are you ShutterRock? If not you're missing out!
ShutterRock - The Community, has an active Facebook Group, where 1100+ members share ideas and experience, ask and answer questions and are incredibly supportive of each other!. We also have the ShutterRock Share School Channel on You Tube and regular ShutterRock ShootUps with photographers meeting together all over the UK and having fun comparing Union Jack merchandise!
I’m so excited to fill you in on....
ShutterRock - The Event
Well, it’s going to be a big one! It’s at Nottingham Center Parcs from 18 - 20 November 2011 and I’d love for you to attend and be blown away by a weekend of inspiration, motivation and more fun than you can shake a stick at!.
ShutterRock is primarily about community and ShutterRock - The Event is dedicated to setting a standard of excellence, that will really benefit the UK photography industry as a whole. ShutterRock has business owners in their first five years alongside more established photographers. My driving passion is to support photographers in building remarkable businesses then see them acknowledged by Joe Public as experts in their field.
ShutterRock - The Event isn’t about a massive hall full of many different suppliers all vying for attention from thousands of people of varying skill and knowledge. It’s a targeted event with the best of the best suppliers forming authentic relationships with their clients - ambitious, up and coming photographers. I have really just tried to pull something together that will really benefit the UK industry as a whole. ShutterRock is about raising the bar within our industry and firmly establishing people photography as the skilled artform I see it recognised more as in the US. I have a special passion that Photographers (like teachers! I've been both!) need to be acknowledged by Joe Public as experts in their field rather than someone with a camera.
I have been bowled over by the new wave in our industry and by how many have jumped on board the ShutterRock Train. Thanks again for being part of it!
