Five Facts About Me

I'm participating in the Reflection of You 5 Fact Friday and the prompt is to share 5 facts about me.  So here goes......

1.  I am a first generation American.  My mother is originally from Germany and my father was born in the Ukraine. They both immigrated to the U.S. as kids.

2.  I grew up in a town of 900 in Illinois and visit almost every summer.  My hometown is so small that it doesn't have a stoplight or four way stop.

3.  Last summer, I rode my bike 450 miles across Iowa with my dad and sister to celebrate his 70 birthday.  The ride is called the RAGBRAI.  Not sure I will do that again....good grief was it hot.

4.  I had four children within the span of 3 1/2 years....we were surprised to find out we were having twins (and twins do not run in my family....although I guess they do now).

5.  I love getting my craft on.  I inherited this trait from my super crafty and talented mom.  She is the queen of all things crafty.

  1. Loved your post and your blog! I also grew up in Illinois-in LaGrange. I had 5 children in in 6 years--and one 7 years later, and I also have twins--identical girls. Are the two boys twins-fraternal?? Looking forward to following your blog.

    1. Wow! 6 kids. My boys are fraternal. And my town, Sidney, is just outside of Champaign. My sister lived in LaGrange or a short time. :) Thanks for stopping by.

  7. I loved hearing about you! The longest bike ride I've done was the Hotter than Hell in Witchita Falls TX. About died! Do you have a little bit of a European accent?

  8. I love these "about you/us" exercises. It's so neat to learn personal little details about folks. I was adopted in Germany by US military and had never considered myself a first generation American (naturalized), but I suppose I am in some sort of twisted way. ;-> I really love your craftiness!!

  9. Oooh...I thought Iowa was flat like Kansas...not so much by your photo. Great 5 facts! I've been in this country since the 1600s...settling in appalachia in the mid-1700s. I think most of my ancestors were deported for stealing chickens or something...life is grand! And if I'm not creating, I'm not living!

  10. You are crazy amazing, 450 miles across Iowa. Good thing you aren't doing it this year, too hot and too dry.

  11. I just want to say that not all crafty moms pass crafty on to their girls. Lucky you. I always think it skips a generation.
