Western Digital My Book Live--My Personal Cloud

Last fall I was provided with a My Book Live from Western Digital to try out and review.  I have been using it for the past few months and could not be happier.  The My Book Live is perfect for backing up and storing all of my files and photos from any of my computers in my home....it is so great.

How it works is you can create your own "personal cloud" by hooking up the My Book Live to your home network.  Unlike public clouds, this personal cloud allows you to keep all your content in one safe place on your own home network.  You can share files, stream media and access your content anywhere ( if away from home, you need to set up access through www.wd2go.com) without monthly fees.

As a photographer, I love the fact that I can easily backup and access photos from any of my computers by simply dragging and dropping files onto the My Book Live system.  You can also set up the system to do automatic wireless backups to be sure you are keeping all of those precious files safe.

I also like archiving templates, textures, and marketing pieces on this drive so that I don't use up space on my computer's hard drive.   It makes me feel a bit more organized and puts my mind at rest knowing that I have these files backed up on an external drive.

Western Digital has an informational video on their site that gives you a complete overview of how the My Book Live works.   Click here to watch the video.

If you have any questions or would like additional details on how I'm using the My Book Live, feel free to leave a comment below.

Disclaimer:  I was given a My Book Live in exchange for this review.  The comments and opinions are my own and I truly find this a very useful tool.
